Michelle is currently working & playing for www.pokerstars.com
Michelle is a recognised face on the poker scene and has been involved in the industry for 5 years now. She learnt poker whilst presenting the cult TV show Poker Night Live and found she had a natural flare for the game. If you have watched poker on the TV it is most likely Michelle was involved somehow. She loves playing the game live and proved she could hold her own at the tables when she won her first ever sponsored poker tournament, a qualifier into the European Poker Tour in London at the Victoria Casino. She won her seat out of a field of over 200 players. Since then she has signed a years sponsorship deal to Purple Lounge, with whom she used to work for as an Affiliate Manager, giving her an insight into the world of poker behind the scenes as well.
She is an adaptable player who is not intimidated by the large male dominance at the tables, if anything she knows how to use this to her advantage. Michelle was quoted as saying,
“It’s like when a man plays you at pool, he’s already at a disadvantage because he’s so adamant that he is not going to lose, this puts too much pressure on him and he makes mistakes. Men take one look at me when I sit at the table and their pattern of thought goes something like this: Blonde, young, female, on the television… obviously can’t play, easy target! And this is what I’m quite happy to let them believe, until I walk away with all their chips of course.”
Since her sponsorship she has played in various tournaments across the globe including, of course, Las Vegas and has had much success. She has also written for poker magazines, compères at poker events and deals at tournaments around Europe.
Michelle has been concentrating on her TV career recently but with her new position at Pokerstars she has been playing again in EPT events and UKIPT events. So watch this space…
